Service Industry Night 3 032905
Yo yo yo!
Getting a bit faster, only, what? Four days from recording to posting. Go me.
Some changes (hopefully) behind the scenes—you might notice a slightly different look to some page elements, but if you’ve already subscribed with a podcasting client, hopefully nothing will break. Please email me if anything goes wrong. To make a long story short, we blazed through our bandwidth way faster than I had anticipated. I had hoped that we would run out of bandwidth eventually (because it means, you know, we’re doing something right) but not in the first month. And, as much as I like my blog host (sincerely, I do) their bandwidth pricing doesn’t exactly fit my needs, I’m sorry to say. Enter Slapcast.
Slapcast is a new service that I heard mentioned in a podcast recently (I think it was the Daily Source Code, but I’m not sure, sorry), tailored specifically for podcasting. For $4.95 a month (cheap!) you get the ability to phone in or upload your podcast (files up to 50mb) and they create a basic website and an XML feed for you. The coolest bit is that for a measly $4.95 a month you get unlimited bandwidth. Sweet. I seem to recall hearing that they were offering a gig of storage, but I can’t find that information on their features page. You might check them out and think that what they’re offering seems a little barebones but keep in mind that they offer crossposting to all the most popular blogging services so combining their offering with, say, a Blogger account and Feedburner can easily allow you to leverage yourself into a slick package for relatively little moolah.
But I digress. Today’s SINCast in any sane world would really be SINCast #1. I’ve been thinking of it as SINCast #1 for the third time. It’s the longest one yet and personally I think it’s a bit too long (please feel free to leave a comment with your thoughts on the matter), but, due to the fact that I ripped it at 64 kbps, it’s the smallest of the three so far. The audio quality is also the lowest yet, but, shit, we’re just talking, how good do we need to sound (again, comment if you have an opinion one way or the other).
We talk about: the new Splinter Cell game, apologies for the horrible beep from last show, all the support we’ve received from our boss, Dr. Death, team killing fucktards, Freak’s trip to see David Spade and the mad car sex that followed, the Last Halloween Costume, Is it ADD or is it Drugs? and drugs, drugs, drugs.
Please note: we don’t do drugs and we don’t advocate doing drugs but we will admit to doing some stupid stuff when we were younger.
Update 3/25/07: You can download this SINCast directly by clicking on the link below (Mac users ctrl-click, Windows right click and choose “download file” or “save link as…” or something like that) or, better yet, subscribe with your favorite podcasting client or RSS reader with the links on the left.
